Spot Check

Each spot uses the closest buoy that's actually reporting. With no live wave reading, the score caps at fair and says "wind only". Tap a card to load it on Now.

Live Cams

How It Works

Buoy readings come live from GLOS Seagull. Each spot uses the nearest buoy that has reported recently, so the distance shown matters: a reading 30 miles away is a rough guide, not gospel.

Most Lake Michigan buoys come out for winter (roughly November to April). When they're out, waves come from the NWS wave forecast, wind from the nearest shore station or the forecasts, and water temperature from NASA's daily satellite reading for the water right off each spot.

The 0–10 score is our own read of those numbers, not an official product. The lake will still do what it wants.
